Officer Struck While Intervening In Altercation
A Lawrenceburg Police Officer reportedly caught a blow while attempting to intervene in an altercation at a local business in the early hours Sunday.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers were dispatched to intervene in the altercation that had erupted at Half Time Bar at King Pin Lanes on Crews Street around 1:45 a.m.
Reports show that business officials had asked one of the participants to leave earlier, but that he had refused to do so. After a time he became involved in a fight with another patron.
While officers were attempting to break up the fight, reports show that an officer was struck by one of the men. Both were subsequently transported to the Lawrence County Jail where they were booked under charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Both will answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on May 1, 2009.
